Depth

Depth emerged from an exploration of space beyond its visible boundaries. The painting was created to investigate how layers, textures, and fragments of color can transform a flat surface into a place of mystery and discovery.

Through a process of building, scratching, and layering, Sopiko Grigolashvili developed a composition in which forms seem to exist at different distances, some appearing close, others hidden beneath the surface. Contrasting colors and intersecting marks create the sensation of looking into a space that cannot be understood at a single glance.

The work reflects a curiosity about what lies beyond immediate perception and how much of what we experience remains unseen. Rather than defining depth through perspective alone, the painting approaches it as a process of uncovering — a gradual encounter with something that reveals itself layer by layer.
